Its all in our Mind...

Happiness: - Think a Happy Thought

Welcome Back Readers,

Lemme start my post with Srimad Bhagwad Gita Chapter-18 Sloka 36-37

sukham tv idanim tri-vidham srnu me bharatarsabha
abhyasad ramate yatra duhkhantam ca nigacchati
---
yat tad agre visam iva pariname 'mrtopamam
tat sukham sattvikam proktam atma-buddhi-prasada-jam”

O Arjuna, best of the Bhāratas, now please hear from Me about the three kinds of happiness which the conditioned soul enjoys, and by which he sometimes comes to the end of all distress. That which in the beginning may be just like poison but at the end is just like nectar and which awakens one to self-realization is said to be happiness in the mode of goodness.

Don’t worry…. I am not going to lecture you all about Bhagwad Gita but I hope that my previous blog post has given you some direction for being happy in your life. Now moving ahead with my agenda to bring happiness, in this post I will try to give my best on describing on how one can be happy using the power of happy thought.

There’s a really nice saying that “You become what you think”. True guys…. Our mind has a subconscious power which is well described by the author Joseph Murphy in his books called “The power of your subconscious mind”. Our subconscious mind gives us the power to overcome many things in our life, so I thought why not it will give happiness to us and I tried to do so by myself and learned a great lot of things which I will be describing here.

START YOUR JOURNEY WITH A FRESH AND STRESS FREE MIND: -

Most of the time it is said that our mind is at most of its power in early morning. So, a student is advised to study during early morning to remember everything. It might have worked but I have never tried it during my childhood. But what I have tried is to start my day with a happy thought in the morning when I wake up.

In this stressful life our day to day activities starts with what happened in work and ends with the same. Gradually our life is being controlled by our work life rather than the balance of the work and personal life. The person who finds the balance will automatically live a happy life and for now days this seems to be impossible no matter how much you try. For the same, as I have described in my previous post on how our wants is overcoming our need, it is also creating the imbalance in our life. It is not possible to control our wants but starting our day with a happy thought will surely slow down the impact and lead us to attain the light of happiness.

THINK POSITIVE AND BE POSITIVE: -

As told earlier starting the day with a happy thought, now you just don’t have to stop right there, but to continue the same throughout the day and this can be done by having positive thoughts. When you think that you are doing this or they are doing this, your mind become upset if things don’t go according to your way. It is well described in Chapter-3, Karma yoga in Bhagwad Gita, that all person does their work in pre-prescribed manner and no one does anything out of their own will but by the direction of GOD.

So, keeping this in mind whenever anything unpleasant action happens to you don’t be sad but think it as positive way or a new beginning of things. I will tell you from my personal experience when my whole day was going bad and I was sad but later in evening I realized that all happened for a definite reason and I was happy that it happened to me.

DON’T GIVE UP: -

We as a human being tend to give up quickly rather to try. But a word of advice always floats around that one should try again and again. Failure are the pillars of success, very true.. If you fail only then you will come to know about what not to do and trying the same thing to do will finally give you success.

How to keep up the tying?? It’s just doing what said in above think positive and be positive. If anything didn’t go according to you then don’t be sad but try to make those thing in your way which will give you happiness. My personal experience was when I started learning computer, I failed in that subject in my 1st trimester exam and instead of trying harder, I changed to economics in which I also failed more badly than computed. Then I tried again for studying computer with a positive thinking and help from my teachers. You will not believe me I scored in top 10 in my class in my final computer exam result.

I hope my personal experience will motivate you to try again and again, If not, please read the book called “Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish” by the author Rashmi Bansal, where you will find how 25 MBA person from IIM left their high paying jobs and entered entrepreneurship, through their patience and trying again and again became leading companies in India.

ENDING YOUR DAY WITH A HAPPY THOUGHT: -

All said and done but still you have a night to spend after your long and tired day. Our mind process the things which we do all day and during our night it absorbs the entire things to our subconscious mind which in turn build up our personality. Thus it’s important to be positive after our work in our personal life also.

You must have noticed that your entire night has been ruined by a bad evening, undelightful food or an unpleasant conversation with your family. Whatever may be the reason, it affects you and only you. So, you must be in charge of what can happen to you, thus choosing the happy thinking process will let you stay happy even after all the bad things happened. While going to bed think about all the positive things happened to you and how you are going to stay happy for the bad things. Let your subconscious mind have all the happy thinking of yours to turn your personality to a charming and happy person.

SUMMARY

Start your journey with a fresh and stress free mind which will be incorporated throughout your day.
Think positive, be positive and stay positive, as you can’t control all the things happening around you but can only control you, your thoughts and actions.
Don’t give up even if you have tried harder try again and you will gain more experience.
End your day with a happy thought which will turn your personality and your life a happy one.

Thank you dear readers for your time and let’s think a happy thought to change our life and live happily.

Be Happy and Live Happy

Happiness:- All it takes is just a smile

Dear Readers,

All we need is just a small happy life to live for. Coming from work and taking some rest on couch having tea/coffee while watching our favorite T.V serial with the family. But in reality because of Jealousy, Anger, Hate, Greed & Regrets are the worst things which pulls us from being in a state of Happiness towards being Sad. This being said, it’s fair to say that if anyone is standing in-between you and Happiness is one and only you as the above said thing can only happen to you, if you choose to.

We often tend to misinterpret the terminology of happiness and compare it with wealth ie; more wealth means more happiness, which is so not true. With my personal experience I will say that more wealth brings more despondency, but don’t misinterpret my statement here that having no money means having all happiness.

I will try to bring life to my personal experience towards finding and interpreting happiness which I have acquired facing almost every situation in my life, from spending my night having only a biscuit packet for dinner to a lavishing food buffet from Barbeque Nation.

Before that, I would like to bring something for your consideration: -

     1.      WANT WHAT YOU NEED: -

Ø  As my father says “Want what you need”. Very thoughtful words… and it can only come from anyone so experienced who have seen all kind of ups and downs in life…

We need Roti for surviving
Our need is very simple as in Hindi dialougue we say “Roti, Kapda aur Makkan”. Its already described in our past that to live a happy life we need very few things. But now our want is gradually taking over our need and thus filling our lives with unhappiness. A person need is a simple homemade food but we look for having a high priced food with no particular health benefits like pizza, burger, etc.
We need clothes for safety

A simple cotton dress piece tailored at any tailor shop or a readymade dress from any local shop will suffice our need, but now we want to have dresses from a shopping mall with high price and that to from foreign brand with no bargaining or discounts. A simple 2 BHK house is sufficient for a small family to live in but we want to have a 3 storied building with swimming pool, bath tubs, tiles fitted rooms, highly decorated halls, etc. To fulfill our wants what we do… We trade our happiness for that. You will ask How…???
We need shelter for protection

Lemme explain… Your need is a simple food, dress and a small house for which you will work for a easy to go income with morning 9 to evening 5 timing and give all your time to your family, relatives and friends thus sharing your feelings and happiness. But you want to have a lavishing high priced food, fashioned dress and a high sophisticated house you will work hard to So, when needs meet wants, a person will always be happy.
So basically you are trading your happiness to fulfill your wants....

      2.      EXPECTATION BRINGS MISERY: -

Ø  Oooo… You must watch it… Never let yourself to expect something from others. Your expectation not fulfilled will make you angry and jealousy, which in turn charge your sadness. If you let go of your expectation then you will see the light of happiness in you.

As said in Bhagwad Gita Karmanye Vadhikaraste, Ma phaleshou kada chana a simple meaning is that never expect fruits for your deed, your job is to do the task and GOD will decide what result is to give.

So folks… From now on just do anything out of your happiness, without expecting any results and I am sure you will definitely feel good about you and others.

      3.      IT’S YOU WHO WANTS TO BE HAPPY OR YOU ARE DOING IT FOR OTHERS?

Ø  It’s a very tricky question, as an individual we need to be happy for ourselves. But often we try to hide our sadness and be happy so that others will not find our sadness.

We tend to find happiness in others and convince ourselves as, if others are happy then we are happy. Man…. You are so wrong... Believe me if you are not happy then how do you think you will keep peoples around you happy because a unhappy person will always shout at others which in turn will makes others unhappy.

If you give an example, that a mother will find happiness in feeding her children. Then you have again misinterpreted happiness. A mother’s need and want is feeding her children. She knows when her child needs feeding and before the child cries out she tends to provide.

     4.      WHAT IS THAT WHICH BRINGS HAPPINESS TO YOU?

Ø  It’s very simple, if you do what you don’t like to do then you tend to be calamitous. A work done in disheartened way will never give fruitful results.

So, look into your day to
day life and check for all those things that makes you happy and try to incorporate those more. And if you ask me for the job you don’t want to do….

Well I have to explain briefly to you later in my another post. But for now I will only say that if that work makes other happy…. Go ahead and do it….

      5.      CAN YOU DO WHATEVER IT TAKES FOR YOU TO BE HAPPY?

Ø  So, true…. If you want to be happy then mark my words, it’s you and only you who can make that happen. If you are looking that someone else will bring happiness to you, then look above and count the stars, it will happen after you count them all...

SUMMARY

ü  Never let your greed control you… Just want what you need not what you greed.
ü  Never expect anything in return from others for your deed and lead a Happy life.
ü  Be happy for you not to show others that you are happy.
ü  Check your daily lifestyle and do the things you love to do.
ü  Only you are responsible for the happiness or sadness in your life.

Thank you dear readers for giving your time. Please do let me know your thoughts on the same and have a happy and enjoyable life. GOD bless.
